New Drivers Will Cure Nvidia GeForce’s Overheating Problems!

Nvidia has offered an apology to its customers who had experienced overheating problems after installing the last driver update.

Nvidia released new drivers for their  popular Geforce graphic cards. This latest driver version is 197.13 and is designed to fix the problem of the fan slowing down or stopping while doing vigorous gaming that was causing the on-board GPU (graphic processor)  to overheat . The problems led to some GPUs and even motherboards being damaged from the increased temperatures.

The new driver updates are available for Windows 7, Vista and XP 32-bit machines and Windows 7, Vista, XP/2003 64-bit systems.

Gamers should be pleased because the new drivers will also increase performance as much as 30% in some games with the following technologies:

Single GPUs

  • Crysis: Warhead – up to 13% performance increase
  • H.A.W.X – up to 13% performance increase
  • Left 4 Dead – up to 30% performance increase

SLI Technology

  • Crysis: Warhead – up to 30%performance increase
  • H.A.W.X – up to 15% performance increase
  • Left 4 Dead – up to 28% performance increase

Other new features for this driver update include:

  • Adds support for the next generation ION
  • Adds GeForce GT320, GT330and GT340 support
  • Updates PhysX to version 9.10.0129
  • Adds HD audio drive to version 1.0.9.1 for supported GPUs

Adds  SLI support and Multi-GPU support for:

  • Assassin Creed II, Battlefield
  • Bad Company 2
  • Command and Conquer 4: Tiberium Twilight
  • Grand Theft Auto IV
  • Episodes from Liberty City
  • Mass Effect 2
  • Napoleon
  • Total War
  • Zombie Driver

Provides enhanced SLI support for:

  • Metro 2033
  • Supreme Commander 2
  • Unigine
  • World of Warcraft

Adds Ambient Occlusion support for:

  • Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood
  • Need for Speed: Shift
  • Resident Evil 5
  • RUSE
  • Street Fighter IV

Provides override aliasing support for Mass Effect 2
