Presagis’ SeaWind OpenGL Hardware-Accelerated Graphics Driver Optimized for Intel Chipsets
Posted on October 9, 2010 at 6:43 pm by Donna WarrenPresagis is a global leader in simulation and embedded graphics solutions. The company provides embedded drivers based on open standards that support most of the mainstream GPUs and embedded real-time operating systems.
The SeaWind driver family will provide embedded developers with new graphic capabilities while reducing power consumption, heat buildup and weight. The new drivers were designed specifically to work with all Intel Express graphic devices.
The problem has always been that most high performance graphic drivers are just too big and need way too much power to work well with embedded applications. Using these new drivers with Intel technology can allow:
- Lower cost application development
- Reduce size, power consumption and space
- Increase reliability by requiring fewer connections for the embedded device
- Require fewer parts
- Need less assembly time
Another major advantage of these drivers is the fact that SeaWind OpenGL software can let you use an integrated GPU at the same time a discrete GPU is being used allowing additional graphics output from the same hardware. Basically it can unlock onboard graphic capabilities for systems already in use providing multi screen capabilities.
Anything that allows developers to create applications that use less power, and components that weigh less will help advance the use of PCs.
