GIGABYTE Announces the First Motherboard That Can Charge an iPad
Posted on April 22, 2010 at 10:28 pm by Donna WarrenThink how convenient it would be if you could just plug your brand spanking new iPad into your desktop and recharge it while you were synchronizing your data … you know … the same way you can recharge your cell phone.
Now it can be done. GIGABYTE announced that all of their new Intel chip set-based X58, P55, H55, H57 as well as the current and new AMD 800 chip set series of motherboards will allow owners to charge their iPad both when it is on and when it is off.
The reason that the current motherboards can’t charge the iPad is because of the differences in the standard USB port power output of 500mA and the iPad’s charging specifications. But now that is all fixed. With the download of a simple ON/OFF charge driver update, Gigabyte motherboard users can use their PC to charge their iPad.
Now, that is the height of convenience. Good work GIGABYTE.
