Android Does Sync with a PC Desktop!
Posted on April 5, 2011 at 9:37 pm by Donna WarrenContrary to popular belief, the Android operating system can and does sync up with the PC. It can easily sync up with windows media player in a similar manner as the iPhone syncs up with iTunes. The result: any windows user can transfer music and videos between their PC and their Android phone or tablet.
Because the Android operating system was designed to be independent, most people don’t realize that your Android phone or tablet can sync up to windows just like any other media player. Once downloaded, you can drag your files around windows media player and sync your libraries between your droid devices and your PC. You just need to set up the devices correctly.
The first time you plug in your droid, you should get a prompt to install the device drivers for your phone or tablet on your PC. You should not need any other software, especially not anything you that costs you money. Most of the paid apps suck and are not necessary anyway. Once you install the drivers, you should get a control panel for your device. What you see will vary depending on who your wireless carrier is and which Android device you have.
But most control panels will at least allow you to ‘Manage media on your device’, ‘Import pictures and videos’, ‘Browse files’, and ‘Change general settings’. There may be other options as well.
To import pictures and videos, select the default values for Windows media player and window live photo gallery. Then just click on “import pictures and videos”. Windows will automatically search your phone for pictures and videos.
For music go to the manage media on your android device and drag all of the files to the box that says ‘drag items here”. Next click “start sync” to transfer them to the PC.
To set up automatic synch, right click on the drop down menu on the Sync tab and select ‘Set up Sync’. I prefer to choose the option that leaves the data on my phone so nothing is deleted and is still available on my phone. . Then just follow the prompts.
That all! Your media files will sync automatically now.
